The IACtHR's case law in your artificial intelligence chat

Caititu connects your AI chat, such as Claude or ChatGPT, to a complete database of decisions of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights. This makes for more detailed, comprehensive and structured research. The tool is free and meant for all human rights defenders.

How Caititu works

How to use
  1. 1

You ask a question about human rights in your AI chat (ChatGPT or Claude).

Where does the right to a healthy environment affirmed in La Oroya come from?

  2. 2

The AI chat translates the request into Caititu's language and asks it to search the Inter-American case law for answers.

  3. 3

Caititu searches a structured base of decisions of the IACtHR for what it was asked and hands back to the chat the passages it found, citing the case and the number of the relevant paragraphs.

Caititu's server keeps neither your question nor your IP address.

roots through the base and hands back what it found

    decisions

  4. 4

The AI chat reads the passages Caititu delivered and writes a summary for you.

  5. 5

You read what the chat summed up and, if you still have questions, ask it to go deeper into a detail, which starts the process again. Because Caititu was made to always cite its sources, it is easy to check against the original.

What difference does Caititu make?

  • If you go straight to the judgments

Reading the decisions of the IACtHR directly is still the best way to understand its case law. But finding something specific can take many Ctrl+F, opening one PDF at a time. In seconds, Caititu can run several kinds of search on its own across the whole case law.

  • If you use search sites

Those who already use search sites, such as the IACtHR's own case-law database, gain other tools beyond searching by words and various filters. With Caititu it is also possible, for example, to search by meaning, find similar paragraphs, trace the genealogy of a standard or single out references to a specific case.

  • If you use artificial intelligence

Your AI chat no longer depends on an opaque training base, on web searches made at random or on PDFs uploaded by hand. Because it rests on a complete and systematised database, Caititu searches the Inter-American case law in a much more disciplined way. The AI chat only translates your request, made in plain language, into several commands specific to Caititu.
